Social Media Strategy – The ROI of Social Media
A common complaint we get is that our services are very expensive. Businesses get very nervous when they start thinking about investing monthly in a social media strategy. This is because it is sometimes hard to see the ROI of social media. How can we calculate the ROI and what if we told you that we can increase your sales? Would you be interested then? Do we have your full attention? Ok, good. Let’s begin.
The ROI of Social Media –
The ROI of social media isn’t always a calculable number, so if that is what you are looking for, you probably won’t find it. Social media doesn’t always translate to direct sales, unless you are running a drop-shipping store or e-commerce store of some kind. If you are like us, social media is something completely different. Our goal on social media is to fight obscurity. By that, we mean that we are looking to fight through the noise and become known and remembered in the mind of the prospect. That way, when they decide to buy, we are the first to come to mind. That is where the most of the ROI is, in becoming first in the mind of the customer. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at the best ways to accomplish this.
How to Become First –
So we’ve determined our goal on social media, now how do we accomplish it? First, we need to take a look at the techniques that work. The best way to break out of obscurity is to increase your level of action. Start posting every couple of hours rather than every couple of days. Does that sound too intense? Don’t let it overwhelm you. It is important to keep in mind that you should be persistent rather than be perfect. Striving for perfection will only discourage you and keep you from your full potential.
The second way to become first is to provide value. Create content that is more valuable than content anybody else has made. If you can do this, then you will rise even further above the noise. One easy way to figure out if you are providing value is to ask yourself. Be honest with yourself and ask, “Am I really doing what I need to do?” If you aren’t you will find the answer to that question to be no. That is ok, too. So long as you take the necessary steps to correct that behavior. Another way to calculate value is to ask people to review your work and give their opinion.
The last tip we can give on becoming first is to not give up. There will be tough times and times when you feel like you can’t do it or you are spinning your wheels. Whatever happens, don’t quit. Just keep at it and make it happen. You will be glad you did in the end.
